Lye:

Lye was an essential product used in homes since the 1800s to now. I discovered that my own great grandmother would make lye soap from scratch and use it for dish detergent, cleanser, as well as body soap. Lye is known to be a great disinfectant and cleanser that can kill bacteria and germs which is perfect for cleaning the home and your skin.

What is lye?

Lye, or sodium hydroxide, is a converted form of salt made from sodium chloride. It is produced by passing an electrical current through a sodium chloride solution. Through a special membrane, lye is released and then reduced into pellets, flakes, or beads for resale.

Castor Oil:

Castor oil has many antibacterial properties, it tones and moisturizes dry skin types, it has antifungal properties that aids in reducing eczema and other skin conditions. Due to the presence of fatty acids in castor oil, it can be used to treat mild acne.

Coconut Oil:

Coconut oil reduces dryness and retains moisture in the skin, it shields the skin from environmental toxins and dirt by providing a protective barrier, and it minimizes the look of fine lines and wrinkles. It also reduces temporary redness in the skin, and it provides antioxidants.

Avocado Oil:

Avocado oil is rich in vitamin E and fatty acids like oleic acid which can help to soothe irritated skin, replenish moisture, and fight free radicals. It can help to reduce acne because of its anti-inflammatory properties that aid in decreasing inflammation and excess oil in the skin.

Safflower Oil:

Safflower oil works to smooth out the skin as well as provide moisture. Because of the fact that many acne sufferers have a deficiency of linoleic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid, which safflower oil has a high concentration of, this oil can help to reverse acne. Studies have suggested that safflower oil can reduce forms of hyperpigmentation as well as lighten age spots.

Oatmeal:

Oatmeal is a great exfoliant and natural cleanser. It removes impurities such as blemishes, dead skin, black and whiteheads. Oats can also help those with oily skin types to balance the secretion of excess oil. It also protects the skin from skin eruptions which prevents acne as well as reducing acne scars. Oats can help in reducing the bacteria and germs accumulated in skin cells.

Charcoal:

Charcoal absorbs excess oil as well as any toxins that may cause blemishes and acne. It helps to clear redness, provide radiance, tighten skin, reduce the size of pores, and extracts dirt.

What is Mica Powder?

Mica powder is derived from a natural stone mineral that is ground into a fine powder. It is an all natural soft and shiny powder that has a dying or coloring effect when used. You will often see mica powder in cosmetic items, soaps, candles, and much more. There are no known side effects to using mica powder on the skin unless you are specifically allergic to mica.
